Victims of child trafficking can be used and abused over and over. Human trafficking has surpassed the illegal sale of arms.

"The unfortunate reality is that human trafficking occurs all around us,” said Maria Odom, Chair of the DHS Blue Campaign. “But more people knowing what to look for will go a long way toward assisting victims and bringing perpetrators to justice. We’re taking the fight against human  trafficking to the next level by utilizing Blue Campaign messages in unique places throughout our transit system, where this type of crime is prevalent.”

Sex traffickers, human traffickers, pedophiles, organ traffickers....they quite often have a type they seek out. Sometimes that may be for a special order of a child, person, or for organ stealing. This is happening world wide...this is a world wide epidemic. An industry worth over $32 billion dollars a year, through the illegal trade of humans. In a few years, and it is almost there, this trade will be more profitable than the drug trade. You can not afford to stick your head in the sand as a person who shares this planet with millions of others. If you do then quite simply you do not give a dam.

UnChained Project wants to mobilize advocates willing to provide awareness and support for survivors of child trafficking living in silence in your community. Here's why;

  • Sex trade industry is the second largest global industry raising $32 billion a year, equal to $87 million a day!

WASHINGTON – The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) today announced the expansion of the DHS Blue Campaign’s public awareness efforts to major airports, truck stops, and motorist gas stations across the country to better enable Americans to recognize and report potential instances of human trafficking. Travelers will now see Blue Campaign messages in new locations throughout their journey. For the first time, these messages will describe the signs of human trafficking to help the general public more readily recognize and report this heinous crime.

The Blue Campaign is the Department’s unified effort to combat human trafficking. Working in collaboration with law enforcement, government, non-governmental and private organizations, the DHS Blue Campaign strives to protect the basic right of freedom and to bring those who exploit human lives to justice.

A sample Blue Campaign message about the indicators of human trafficking

We follow Jerome on twitter, and interact through social media with him. This is a must watch video. Please watch this video, to understand more about human trafficking.....you absolutely must watch this.

No one can know what a victim of abuse, sexual violence, child abuse, domestic violence, really goes through. It is not just the physical abuse, it is also the psychological abuse.
Many can not talk about their abuse they went through.
It can take like Jerome 30 years... ten years to talk about a fraction of what you go through.

Many victims of child abuse suppress the memories for many years, to protect themselves, then 40 years later those memories can come flooding back, triggered by factors around them.
Abusers are very good at hiding their tracks, very good at manipulating a child, lying to their families, if they are family men.
So many men who are married, with families of their own, are sexual abusers, they can be child abusers, as well as adult abusers. Some also pedophiles, all three...trust us we have seen horrific stories.

“Our effort to combat human trafficking is strengthened by our close partnership with law enforcement and community organizations,” said Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. “Equipping the broader American public to recognize and report this heinous crime is vital to identifying and rescuing potential victims. This new public awareness campaign will help ensure that the millions of Americans who pass through our nation’s travel infrastructure are better informed and able to assist in this fight.”

Thirteen major airports are displaying DHS Blue Campaign awareness messages on video monitors, and beginning today, passengers can expect to see the messages on airport shopping bags in 10 major airports. Additionally, DHS Blue Campaign awareness messages will appear at more than 300 truck stop gas stations and 50 motorist gas stations, shining a light on instances of human trafficking that may occur along the interstate highway system.

DHS works closely with public and private sector partners, including the Department of Transportation and Amtrak, to distribute these awareness materials across the nation. In December, DHS announced its partnership with Travel-Centers of America to provide training and awareness materials to over 250 locations along the U.S. interstate highway system. Last year, DHS also established partnerships with the City of Phoenix and the Arizona Human Trafficking Council of the Governor’s Office for Children, Youth and Families to provide training and awareness materials ahead of Super Bowl XLIX in February 2015.

Child trafficking Statistics
U.S. & International

Statistics compiled by Ark of Hope for Children

High Springs, FL hope@arkofhopeforchildren.org

  "When a child has been recruited, transported, harbored, or received and some commercial element is introduced in the production of child pornography, then that individual has also engaged in child trafficking. Whether they work in strip clubs or sweatshops, these boys and girls are victims of human trafficking."

  The Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) defines “severe forms of trafficking in persons” as: sex trafficking in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act has not attained 18 years of age."

  "The economic reality is that human trafficking is driven by profits. If nobody paid for sex, sex trafficking would not exist."

Where do trafficked children come from?

 Remove chains Child trafficking victims, whether for labor, sex or organ trafficking, come from all backgrounds, include both boys and girls.
They span a wide age range from 1 to 18 years old.
Sex trafficking victims up to roughly 25 years old most often started as young as 14.
Children are trafficked out of, or into the United States from all regions of the world and represent a variety of different races, ethnic groups and religions.
They may be brought to the U.S. legally or smuggled in.

Trafficked children can be lured to the U.S. through the promise of school or work and promised the opportunity to send money back to their families.
Children are also vulnerable to kidnappers, pimps, and professional brokers. Some children are even sold to traffickers by their families, who may or may not have an understanding of what will happen to the child. U.S. born children are also trafficked within the U.S., coming from any racial group, socio-economic background, and come from or trafficked within both city and rural areas.

The numbers;

Update: In 2012 the (UNODC) United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime reports the percentage of child victims had risen in a 3 year span from 20 per cent to 27 per cent. Of every three child victims, two are girls and one is a boy.

Gender and age profile of victims detected globally: 59% Women - 14% Men - 17% Girls and 10% were Boys.

600,000 to 800,000 women, children and men bought and sold across international borders every year and exploited for forced labor or commercial sex (U.S. Government)

When internal trafficking victims are added to the estimates, the number of victims annually is in the range of 2 to 4 million
50% of those victims are estimated to be children

It is estimated that 76 percent of transactions for sex with underage girls start on the Internet
2 million children are subjected to prostitution in the global commercial sex trade (UNICEF)
There are 20.9 Million victims of Trafficking World wide as of 2012
1.5 Million victims in the United States

The impact;

  • Human trafficking has surpassed the illegal sale of arms "No More"
  • Trafficking will surpass the illegal sale of drugs in the next few years
  • Drugs are used once and they are gone.
  • Victims of child trafficking can be used and abused over and over
  • A $32 billion-a-year industry, human trafficking is on the rise and is in all 50 states (U.S. Government)
  • 4.5 Million of trafficked persons are sexually exploited
  • Up to 300,000 Americans under 18 are lured into the commercial sex trade every year
  • From 14,500 - 17,500 of those victims are trafficked into the United States each year

According to non-governmental U.S. sources;

  • Average victims age is 11 to 14
  • Approx 80% are women and children bought, sold and imprisoned in the underground sex service industry

  • Average life span of a victim is 3 to 7 years (found dead from attack, abuse, HIV and other STD's, malnutrition, overdose or suicide)

  • The largest group of at-risk children are runaway, thrown away, or homeless American children who use survival sex to acquire food, shelter, clothing, and other things needed to survive on America's streets.

  • According to the National Runaway Switchboard  1.3 million runaway and homeless youth live on America's streets every day. [5,000 die each year] It would not be surprising to learn that the number of children trafficked in the United States is actually much higher than 300,000.

  • Children are often targeted by traffickers as they are deemed easier to manipulate than adults. More money can be earned by younger girls and boys exploited in sexual exploitation, especially virgins.

  • Pre-pubescent girls are reported to be injected with hormones to bring on puberty. Younger girls are expected to have a greater earning potential, and as such are in greater demand.

  • Physical and Mental Consequences of Trafficking for victims;thumb Beaten

  • Child victims of human trafficking face significant problems. Often physically and sexually abused, they have distinctive medical and psychological needs that must be addressed before advancing in the formative years of adulthood.

  • Child victims of exploitation can face a number of long-term health problems:
  • Sleeping and eating disorders
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • HIV/AIDS, pelvic pain, rectal trauma and urinary difficulties from working in the sex industry

This readers is how easy it is. The police believe this little boy was taken by child-traffickers-pedophiles. They had quite obviously been watching this boy, the grandparents, parents....they waited for the exact right moment to take this child.

This readers is a story that is seen around the world, this happens to millions of children. This could be your child, your family that is being watched, and left utterly devastated by this loss and crime to your child.
